Aleksandra Petrović is a partner at Refine Legal, with over 10 years of experience in regulatory and energy matters in Serbia and in the Western Balkans region. She advises national and international clients on legal issues arising on major energy and industrial projects, as well as policy makers in institutional and regulatory reforms in the energy sector. Aleksandra has substantial experience in drafting legislation relating to renewable energy, design of the CfD auctions and relevant support agreements. Aleksandra graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Nicosia and is a member of Serbian Bar Association as of 2019. She is one of the founders of the Association for Energy Law of Serbia (UPES) and was and elected member of the Committee of Young Professionals of the National Petroleum Committee of Serbia – WPC (two mandates).

Experience

2014 – 2025 International law firm (Schoenherr)

Advised the Governments of Serbia (first and second CfD auction), Montenegro, North Macedonia, in cooperation with the EBRD, on transposition of RED II and adoption of first ever RES Law with pertaining bylaws in these markets, design of the market-based support schemes for intermittent RES, advise on further integration of RES and the RES support scheme contracts.
Advised Government of Uzbekistan, EBRD and state’s generation companies in developing contractual arrangements with the single buyer and direct customers, as well as provision of ancillary services to the system operators, as part of the follow-up work on the project Uzbekistan Power Market Reform which also included drafting the new electricity law and energy institutional reforms.
Advised major international investors in renewable energy projects, including on the development, financing and operation of large-scale RES assets in Serbia and the wider region (including wind and solar portfolios with integrated BESS).
Advised one of the largest global investment funds on the acquisition of private equity platform in Serbia, including post-acquisition restructuring, corporate and compliance matters, and advised global space exploration companies on its market entry into Serbia.
Advised multinational rail transport systems manufacturer on the €4bn Belgrade Metro project, including establishment of its corporate structure in Serbia, and advised the City of Belgrade and EBRD on the structuring and implementation of a PPP project for four underground garages in Belgrade city center.
Advised leading global mining companies on regulatory matters in relation to its €2bn+ project in Serbia, and one of the largest vertically integrated energy companies in Southeast Europe, on various regulatory aspects of oil and gas exploration and exploitation projects.
